Lost opportunity…..Herman Daly, a pioneering ecological economist who served as a senior economist at the World Bank from 1988 to 1994. He argued that perpetual economic growth is incompatible with the finite nature of Earth's resources.

Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare (ISEW): In collaboration with theologian John B. Cobb Jr., Daly co-developed the ISEW as an alternative to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This index accounts for environmental degradation and social factors, offering a more comprehensive measure of a nation's well-being.

Critique of Traditional Economic Models: During his tenure at the World Bank, Daly critiqued the institution's portrayal of the economy as an isolated system. He proposed a revised model illustrating the economy as a subsystem of the finite global ecosystem, highlighting the limitations of growth-centric policies.

I seriously doubt that the horrible impacts of capitalism and "progress" can be mitigated by a reconfiguration of capitalism and progress. We need a whole new operating system as this one is about to blue screen.
